Tunisia Travel
Tunisia is the smallest of the North African Countries but also a very popular one, with a culture and historical sights to compete with the best in North Africa. The fact that Tunisia was occupied by many of the great Mediterranean Empires during its turbulent history, has given it a unique and interesting way of life which is unlike its larger neighbours. There is plenty to see and do in this small Country and in fact many European Citizens do. With stunning Islamic architecture, Roman and Carthaginian ruins and amazingly friendly people it was always going to be a tourist hotspot, but add to this a beautiful sandy coastline and amazing desert landscapes in the south and you have yourself one hell of a destination.

Sousse, Tunisia
On the eastern coast of Tunisia, two hours from the capital Tunis lies Sousse, "the pearl of the Sahel" . The mildness of its climate, its calm and beautiful coast and the hospitality of its people have long captivated those who came to conquer. Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines and Arabs settled in this lovely "fertile city" each leaving their imprint and heritage. No wonder modern day visitors from all over the world find themselves at home and return again and again.

Mahdia, Tunisia
The promise of Mahdia has a tendency of coming almost true. While wandering around the city, many of the elements of the city's past is spotted, but it either is too obviously restored, or too little. In the 10th century Mahdia was a very important city, but even more, it was the capital of one of the Muslim worlds most important line of rulers, the Fatimids. The first Fatimid ruler declared himself as the Mahdi, the last prophet of Islam. The Fatimids moved their centre to Egypt after conquering Cairo, and Mahdia had been the capital for just 50 years. Mahdia was chosen as the capital because of the proximity to the sea, and the promontory on which an important military settlement had been since the time of the Phoenicians. With a wall 10 metres thick, man and nature had built one of this coast's best fortresses.

Nice Places To See in Tunisia
No matter which season it is, Tunisia is a kind of paradise thanks to its coast as a Mediterranean land.Tunisia has very nice places to see. Here you can enjoy yourself with charming sea, discover the numerous sites, cities and museums. Sousse, Monastir, Hammamet and Nabeul, Djerba and Tabarka are the well known resorts. Combination of sand beaches with perfect water is so inviting for travelers. The place is appropriate not only for swimming but also for kinds of sea sports. Also, short boat rides are available. In southern resort areas, sea sports can be practiced for most of the year. Riding, hiking, tennis, hunting are additional ones. For the amateurs, lessons are available at a reasonable cost.
